Steven Meisel and Melvin Sokolsky

In video-interview Sobchak (by Tinkov) she named a Steven Maisel the famous photographer of the world at now. Today i'm try to look his biography and photos.
"His fascination for beauty and models started at a young age. At that time Meisel would not play with toys, but would instead draw women all the time." But then i see a phrase "To meet famous model Twiggy, the 12-year-old Meisel stood outside waiting for her at Melvin Sokolsky's studio" and at once move to Melvin Sokolsky photoalbum (http://sokolsky.com/). It's great (Cusco Boy, Peru, 1967):

Three Boys at Lake Tanganyika

Three Boys at Lake Tanganyika by Martin Munkasci (1930):

In 1932, the young Henri Cartier-Bresson, at the time an undirected photographer who catalogued his travels and his friends, saw the Munkácsi photograph Three Boys at Lake Tanganyika, taken on a beach in Liberia. Cartier-Bresson later said, "For me this photograph was the spark that ignited my enthusiasm. I suddenly realized that, by capturing the moment, photography was able to achieve eternity. It is the only photograph to have influenced me. This picture has such intensity, such joie de vivre, such a sense of wonder that it continues to fascinate me to this day." He paraphrased this many times during his life, including the quotation, "I suddenly understood that photography can fix eternity in a moment. It is the only photo that influenced me. There is such intensity in this image, such spontaneity, such joie de vivre, such miraculousness, that even today it still bowls me over."

Jonathan Ive, senior vice-president of design at Apple

"There is a loyalty that I have for Apple and a belief that this company has an impact beyond design which feels important. I also have a sense of being accountable as we really live, sometimes pretty painfully with the consequences of what we do."

Cartier and others

Reading about Cartier SA, because yesterday in GYM-shop we saw a very accurate and beautiful woman bag by Cartier. As I recognize today - it is from Marcello de Cartier collection (dimensions: 30x30x6 (small) and 40x36x6 (medium)).

For information - one of the first man's wristwatch are made by Cartier (Louis) in 1904, he creates the Santos watch for his friend the Brazilian aviator, Santos-Dumont. Also, one of the famous Cartier's wristwatches - is model Tank (1919). Form of Tank cast by Renault Armoured Machine - called ‘tank’.

Yves Saint Lauren wear a Tank in his wrist (photo by Irving Penn, 1983):

In Cartier Foundation site you can see very interesting on-line exhibition, regarding Graffiti art:

By crossed links also reading about wristwatch-manufactures and about Lee Iacocca automobile companies Ford (Ford Mustang especially), Chrysler and his new book “Where Have All The Leaders Gone?”.

Today I reading biography and look the albums of Isaac Levitan, a classical Russian landscape painter who advanced the genre of the "mood landscape".
I remember Levitan's painting from my childhood — I have a set of cards with reproduction of his painting, and look at them sometimes. It was twenty years ago, I think. I remember his dusks, haystacks, summer evenings...

His one of the famous painting is "Over Eternal Peace":

As say in Russian part of Wikipedia:
"Is the opinion, that's this painting is most Russian painting, that's ever painting paint in Russian theme".

Andy Warhol's cats

Art innovator Andy Warhol (1923 – 1987) was a renowned cat lover, and they were one of his favorite subjects in the 1950s, before he became acclaimed for his Pop Art portrayals of soup cans, Coke bottles and Marilyn Monroe. Warhol, a long-time cat owner, published a book of cat portraits done in 1954 using a blotted line technique and colored with Dr. Martin’s ink washes. All but one of the 25 cats in the book were named Sam, and were based on the images of famous feline photographer Walter Chandoha, rather than Warhol’s own pets.
